A couple of weeks ago I covered for Jyoti at his regular DJ slot in The Big Blue Cafe on Saturday nights. If you're ever in town and you fancy supping your booze, coffee or crepe somewhere a little calmer than the average pub then I highly recommend it. You can click the link above for Jyoti's previous playlists.
Mine however, looked like this... You'll notice I started doing links and then couldn't be bothered. It's probably about as quick for you to google them yourselves anyway.

Ok, tonight I decided to sign up for a free 25 download trial at Emusic.com. I'm not going to go on about these bands too much because A) I don't really know much about them beyond the fact I'm enjoying their music and B) I'd rather you just listen to some songs.
I ended up downloading two albums by artists I found via the excellent indiefeed.com podcasts. The first is Elk City and the album is called New Believers.
The track I heard on the indiefeed podcast and in my opinion the standout track on the album is Cherries In The Snow, I became a bit hooked on that one. If you head over to their myspace then you can hear it for yourself. Better still, why not treat yourself to the album.
The next band (and another Indiefeed pointer) is Palomar.
They're a Brooklyn four piece with some catchy indie pop in their trousers. The album I downloaded is Palomar III: Revenge Of Palomar and it's great. Bits remind me of Metric with a twee indie twist. You can listen at their Myspace to more of their songs and although I haven't got any of their other albums yet I can happily recommend Palomar III...
Happy birthday to Ele. Hope she enjoyed bowling, she's only three!
Went to catch a bit of Jazz down at 5Lamps last night. Very enjoyable it was too with candles and free nachos to go with the music.

Great stuff! If you skint at the Kenickie / Ash / Blondie triple-header in the middle, you COULD be at the... read more
